PrairieThunder Adds Three to Pre-Season Roster

The Bloomington PrairieThunder of the Central Hockey League today announced the signing of three players which will bring solid depth to the organization. Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Jason Christie, has announced that defenseman Matt Woodard and forwards Brent Clarke and Jason Dale have agreed to terms for the 2010-2011 season which begins October 16th.

St. Louis Park, Minnesota native Matt Woodard returns for his second professional season. Last year, the 6'-0", 195 lbs. defenseman started the year with the Fort Wayne Komets where he played in 49 games. Matt finished the year in Bloomington, appearing in 19 contests. Overall, in 68 games, Woodard tallied 6 goals and added 10 assists for 16 points. Before turning pro last season, the twenty-five year old blueliner played four years of college hockey at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Forward Brent Clarke returns to Bloomington after spending the 2009-10 season with three teams in three different leagues. Brent played for the Flint Generals (IHL); Columbus Cottonmouths (SPHL); and the West Michigan Blizzard (AAHL); where he totaled 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points. The 5'-9", 175 lbs. native of Bolton, Ontario previously played for the PrairieThunder during both the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. In 128 games with Bloomington, Clarke, 26, scored 33 points (16 goals & 17 assists).

5'-10", 172 lbs. forward Jason Dale joins the PrairieThunder after spending the 2009-10 season in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies and the Bakersfield Condors. The twenty-one year old Pickering, Ontario native played three years of junior hockey with the OHL's Brampton Battalion where he scored 33 goals in 185 games. His best season in the OHL was in 2008-09 when he scored 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 68 games. Last year, in his first professional season, Jason scored 3 goals and added 6 assists for 9 points in only 29 games.

Former PrairieThunder Mike Liambas with Toronto Maple Leafs

Former PrairieThunder forward Mike Liambas is currently in Toronto, Ontario in the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp. Liambas, who played portions of the 2008-09 & 2009-10 seasons in Bloomington, played for the Maple Leafs rookies against the Pittsburgh Penguins rookies last Sunday night in London, Ontario. Pittsburgh won the game 2-1.

PrairieThunder Pre-season Game Tickets Now on Sale

Tickets for the PrairieThunder's Sunday, October 10th pre-season game at the Decatur Civic Center are now on sale at two locations. The game against the Quad City Mallards will have a 4pm face-off in Decatur, Illinois at the downtown Decatur Civic Center. A portion of the proceeds benefits Decatur Youth Hockey and the PThunder will be wearing special game jerseys which will be auctioned off following the game.

General admission tickets prior to the day of the game are $10.00 for adults and include one free ticket for children 12 and under. Additional children's tickets are $5.00. Tickets can be purchased in Bloomington at the PrairieThunder office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, or by calling the PrairieThunder at 309-585-0507. Tickets are also available in Decatur through the Rob Lipic State Farm Insurance Agency by calling 217-875-1825.

Season tickets and group ticket packages for the 2010-2011 Bloomington Prairie Thunder are now on sale at the team's offices located at 318 W. Washington Street, Suite 1NW, in downtown Bloomington. The PrairieThunder's home opening weekend is Friday & Saturday, October 22nd and 23rd, when Bloomington hosts the Odessa Jackalopes and Tulsa Oilers at 7:05pm each evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
