Lexington Legends News Release
Former heavyweight champion James "Buster" Douglas, whose upset win over Mike Tyson in 1990 shocked the boxing world, will make an appearance in Lexington Thursday, September 16 at the Mixed Martial Arts "Fall Brawl" at Applebee's Park. Douglas will be available for autographs and pictures throughout the evening.
Douglas' historic knockout of Tyson came in the ninth round of their bout Februrary11, 1990 in Tokyo. Tyson was undefeated at the time, and was an overwhelming favorite to win.
"We're honored to have a boxing great in our facility," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "I feel this adds legitimacy to our venue as we keep putting on events outside of the baseball world."
The first of 10 "Fall Brawl" fights will begin at 7 p.m. September 16 at Applebee's Park, home of the Lexington Legends. Ticket information is available at the Legends box office, (859) 422-7867 or online at www.lexingtonlegends.com. The event is sponsored by the Lexington Legends, Last Man Standing and Z Rock 103.
