SAL ZIZZO TO THROW OUT FIRST PITCH AT TONIGHT'S PADRES GAME: Chivas USA midfielder and San Diego native Sal Zizzo will fulfill a lifelong dream as he throws out the first pitch at the San Diego Padres game tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers at PETCO Park in San Diego. Zizzo, an All-CIF centerfielder at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego before choosing soccer in college, will take part in the pregame festivities as both Chivas USA and the Padres prepare for the ChivaClásico on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8:00 p.m. at PETCO Park. "I have been a Padres fan since I was a little kid, so this is a dream come true for me," said Zizzo. "It'll be great to get the chance to throw out the first pitch, and I can't wait to take part in the ChivaClásico a week later at PETCO Park."
RED-AND-WHITE HOST NEW ENGLAND ON FRIDAY AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER: Chivas USA looks to keep its playoff hopes alive this Friday night at The Home Depot Center when the Red-and-White take on the visiting New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m. PT. CHIVACLÃSICO SET FOR SEPTEMBER 14 AT PETCO PARK IN SAN DIEGO: Chivas USA and Club Deportivo Guadalajara of the Mexican First Division will square off in the second ChivaClásico, to take place on Tuesday, September 14 at 8:00 p.m. PT at PETCO Park in San Diego. Guadalajara, recent finalists in the Copa Libertadores, will visit Chivas USA for the second time in as many years, having captured a 2-0 win at the Rose Bowl Stadium last year. The match is being presented in partnership with the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, and tickets are available at both cdchivasusa.com and padres.com .
TRUJILLO VISITS PADRES STORE IN TIJUANA: Chivas USA defender Mariano Trujillo visited the Padres "Tienda de Beisbol" in the Plaza Rio Mall in Tijuana on Monday, signing autographs for the gathered crowd before taking the bus with Padres fans to last night's game at PETCO Park, a 4-2 win for San Diego. The Chivas USA player is one of many Mexican or Mexican-American players on the team, and will be facing off against Guadalajara next Tuesday, September 14 at PETCO Park in the second-ever ChivaClásico. YOUTH CALL UPS: Chivas USA midfielders and Home Grown Players Cesar Zamora and Bryan de la Fuente are currently with the U.S. U-20 National Team under Head Coach Thomas Rongen for a four-team tournament in Peru. The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team traveled to Arequipa on Sept. 1 and faced Paraguay on Sept. 6, and will take on Colombia on Sept. 8 and Peru on Sept. 10.
