B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that they have agreed to terms with receiver Shawn Gore . The Bishop's University standout was the Lions' second selection in this year's CFL Canadian Draft (2nd round, 10th overall). Most recently, the Toronto native was signed by the Green Bay Packers and attended training camp with the NFL club before being released on August 28th.
Gore was Bishop's Male Athlete of the Year in 2009 and led the Gaiters with 32 catches for 496 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season. He joins former college teammates Jamall Lee, Dan McCullough and James Yurichuk as recent Lions acquisitions from Bishop's.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Lions," said Gore before boarding a flight to Vancouver. "I have some close friends on the club and I met a lot of the guys after the game in Montreal. I can't wait to get there, compete, contribute and start my CFL career."
Over his career, Gore notched 1172 receiving yards on 72 catches in 29 regular-season games and finished his time at Bishop's on a 21-game pass catching streak.
