Erie Otters News Release
ERIE, Pa. - After an impressive first period in which the Otters grabbed a pair of power play goals, the Niagara IceDogs fought back with three unanswered goals, including the game-winner late in regulation to hand the Otters at 3-2 defeat in OHL preseason action. 2009 Otters draft pick Kris Grant started the scoring with a shot from the point that passed through a screen by Scott Mitchell and goaltender Mark Visentin at the 5:26 of the first period.
Connor Crisp tallied the other goal for the Otters late in the period after knocking in a one-timer in front off the net from a pass by Jeremy Gottzmann. The Otters outshot the IceDogs, 11-8, after 20 minutes of play.
The final 40 minutes would be a different story, as the IceDogs posted the game's final 30 of 36 shots and three goals to claim the victory.
A shorthanded marker by Andrew Howes and man advantage goal by Dylan Wood tied the game in the second. Johnson Andrews completed the Niagara comeback with 3:36 for the game-winning goal.
The game was filled with penalties, as the two squads combined for 72 minutes in the box. The Otters finished the game 2-for-10 on the power play, while Niagara was 1-for-12.
Ramis Sadikov played nearly 31 minutes and stopped 11 of 12 shots, while Chris Festarini played the remainder the game and made 24 saves out of 26.
The Otters head out on the road for a rematch against Niagara with a Labor Day matinee on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
