New York Liberty News Release

10 IN A ROW: The Liberty's franchise-best 10-game winning streak came to a halt with a 75-74 loss at Washington on Aug. 20. It was the Libs first loss since Jul. 25 @ Atlanta. They went 9-1 in August, which is largest win total they have posted for the month in franchise history.

AUGUST WAS CAPPIE'S MONTH: Cappie Pondexter was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month presented by Kia Motors, for games played in August after guiding the Liberty to a 9-1 (.900) mark - the best record in the league for August - and a franchise-record 10-game winning streak.

QUITE A BEFORE AND AFTER: Liberty are 15-3 (16-4 including postseason) since the All-Star break thanks in large part to an increase in offensive prowess and defensive tenacity. Their points per game increased by 3.8 points in the second half of the season from 77.2 ppg to 81.0 ppg. On the defensive end, the Liberty allowed 73.7 ppg since the All-Star break after allowing 78.5 points prior.

GARDEN PARTY: The Liberty won nine straight at the Garden, with Game One win versus Indiana on Aug. 26. Their last home loss came on Jul. 18 when they lost 84-81 (OT) versus Indiana.

DECISIVE GAME THREES: New York is 7-4 all-time and 6-1 at the Garden in playoff series deciding Game Threes. Libs last Game Three was a 75-73 loss at Detroit in the 2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals.

LAST TIME AROUND: Liberty's early offensive struggles cost them, as Indiana raced out to a seven-point lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back, forcing the Libs into a 21-point second-half hole, en route to a series-tying 75-67 loss at Conseco Fieldhouse. Cappie Pondexter led the way with a game-high 24 points and Essence Carson added 20 points in 28 minutes off the bench.
