Salem RidgeYaks News Release
Wilmington, DE (August 15, 2010)- Although the precipitation was never torrential, the umpires called for the tarp in the middle of the fourth inning, and 90 minutes later, they decided that baseball would be no more on Sunday afternoon at Frawley Stadium. The rainfall's intensity vacillated between light showers and hard drizzle, but still prevented Salem from snapping its four game losing streak. The Red Sox led 5-0 after three and a half innings, but the positive statistics will disappear from history since the series finale will not be continued or made up.
Salem wins the rain-abbreviated season series against Wilmington 12-7, despite losing their final four games against the Blue Rocks. Wilmington earns a shortened two-game sweep of this series, taking a one-run victory on Friday night before demolishing the Red Sox 11-0 on Saturday evening.
Salem's road trip continues as the Sox journey down to North Carolina for a four-game series with the first-place Winston-Salem Dash. The series begins on Monday night at 7 PM, with Stolmy Pimentel scheduled to take the mound opposite Terry Doyle at BB&T Ballpark.
