Cyclones Win 3-2 In 11 Innings

BROOKLYN, NY- The Brooklyn Cyclones (34-15) fought back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Connecticut Tigers 3-2 in 11 innings before 8,757 fans at MCU Park on Saturday night.

The Tigers (26-23) scored two runs in the sixth inning against Brooklyn LHP Hamilton Bennett. 3B Matt Perry (0-4) reached base on an error and moved to third base on a single by SS Ryan Soares (1-4).

LF Les Smith (2-5) hit an RBI single to right field and Perry scored. Soares moved to third base on the single and scored on a fielding error by SS Rylan Sandoval for a 2-0 lead.

The Cyclones scored a run in the seventh inning against Tigers RHP Brennan Smith. 3B Brian Harrison (2-4) hit a solo home run over the left field wall to cut the lead to 2-1.

Smith pitched seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits in a no decision.

LF Will Cherry (1-4) led off the ninth inning with a solo home run against Connecticut RHP Tyler Clark (2-1) to tie the game at 2-2.

In the 11th inning, Harrison hit a bloop double to right field and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by 2B J.B. Brown. A throwing error by Tigers 3B Matt Perry allowed the winning run to score.

The Tigers and Cyclones continue their series Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. RHP Clemente Mendoza (2-5, 5.84) starts for Connecticut against RHP Wes Wrenn (3-2, 3.08) for Brooklyn. Pre-game coverage begins at 4:45 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
