FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (July 30, 2010) - FC Dallas has traded defender Anthony Wallace to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for a natural fourth round 2011 SuperDraft pick and a conditional 2012 SuperDraft selection, the club announced today.
A four-year veteran, Wallace joins the Rapids having played his entire MLS career in Dallas since being acquired by the club in the first round (9th overall) of the 2007 SuperDraft. Wallace appeared in 15 games for FC Dallas, making 11 starts and playing a total of 842 minutes.
On the international level, Wallace played for the United States U-17 and U-18 teams and was a member of the U.S. U-20 squad that participated in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. He was named to the roster for the 2009 U-20 World Cup in Egypt, but had to miss the tournament due to injury.
Wallace's last appearance with FC Dallas was against Philadelphia on May 15, 2010. Wallace subbed in for Marvin Chavez in stoppage time off the 1-1 draw in Philadelphia. His only other appearance this season came in a 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo on May 5. Wallace played 15 minutes in that match.
Heading into Saturday's match with the Rapids, which is set to kick off from Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 2 p.m. MT, FC Dallas' defense is on pace to allow the fewest goals against in club history. Currently tied for the third-best total with Real Salt Lake, the team has allowed only 14 goals in 16 games this season. The current all-time low came during the 1999 season when FC Dallas allowed 35 goals in 32 matches.
