Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today that they have signed goaltender Tim Boron, bringing back a member of their last championship team. Boron was the winning goalie in the President's Cup-clinching Game 6 victory in 2007. Since leaving the Eagles after that season, the netminder has split time among four teams in the ECHL and CHL.
"I'm excited to come back to one of the best organizations in the league, where I last won a championship," said Boron. "And I'm looking forward to trying to win another one with the Colorado Eagles."
During the 2006-07 season, Boron shared time in net with Marco Emond and Paulo Colaiacovo, compiling a record of 13-4-0 with a save percentage of .909 and a goals-against average of 2.91. In the Eagles' run to a second championship, Boron posted a playoff record of 6-3 -- including three shutouts, tying a CHL playoff record -- to go along with a .944 SV% and 1.79 GAA; the shutouts, GAA & SV% all tops among playoff goalkeepers.
After three years collegiately at St. Cloud State, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native spent his rookie season with the Eagles before moving onto the ECHL in 2007-08. He returned to the CHL the following season with the Wichita Thunder before being traded to the Mississippi RiverKings last season.
While the wins didn't come for Boron in 2008-09 with Wichita (he had a 6-11-1 record), it was his best season statistically: his 2.59 GAA and .926 SV% would have ranked 5th and 2nd in the CHL respectively if he would have played enough games to qualify for final season rankings (his season was cut short by injury).
The puck drops on the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, Oct. 15. Tickets for all Eagles home games played at the Budweiser Events Center -- including the Oct. 9 preseason game -- will go on sale Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased by visiting the BEC Box Office, calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or online at www.ComcastTix.com.
