Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) made quite the splash at the 2009 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft when Montreal native Louis Leblanc was selected 18th overall by his hometown Canadiens. And while the Lancers aren't expected to have the same kind of first round impact this year, Omaha will certainly leave its mark at the upcoming 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Hosted at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, the first round will take place tomorrow with Rounds 2-7 coming Saturday.

The Lancers player most likely to hear his name called this weekend is defenseman Justin Holl. A native of Tonka Bay, Minnesota, Holl is ranked 47th overall on the NHL's Central Scouting Final Rankings of North American skaters. Committed to the University of Minnesota, Holl registered four assists and a +7 rating in 11 regular season games in Omaha last season. The smooth skating 6-2, 175 pound defenseman is slated to return to the Lancers for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

Other Lancers that could be tabbed by NHL teams this weekend include forward Ryan Daugherty and goaltender Jeff Teglia. Daugherty, a 6-2, 192 pound power forward, is ranked 179th overall on the Central Scouting Final Rankings of North American skaters. A native of Allen, Texas, Daugherty tallied 18 goals and 33 points in 52 games last season and registered 24 goals, 25 assists and 49 points in 98 career games in Omaha. Daugherty is committed to play at Northern Michigan University beginning in the Fall of 2010.

Meanwhile, goaltender Jeff Teglia is ranked 24th overall on the Central Scouting Final Rankings of North American goaltenders after a 30-10-5 regular season mark during the 2009-10 campaign, which included a USHL-best .921 save percentage coupled with a 2.27 goals-against average. Named to the 2010 All-USHL Second Team, the native of Bloomingdale, Illinois is committed to play at the University of Massachusetts in the Fall of 2010.
