
"Hockey Republic" to Open in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks, in conjunction with Hockey Republic, announced today Kansas City now has a full-service hockey store located at Highway 291 and 23rd Street in Independence. Hockey Republic will feature top brands from outfitters such as Easton, Sherwood, CMM, Reebok and Bauer, as well as being an official partner of the Missouri Mavericks hockey team.
"We are extremely proud of the new hockey culture that the Independence Events Center and the Centerpoint Community Ice Rink have brought to Kansas City," said Hockey Republic owner, John Olivarez. "The initial response has been amazing; we have so many hockey fans and players who haven't been able to get merchandise and equipment in Kansas City. All of that changes today!"
Hockey Republic will have a Grand Opening on Saturday, June 26, a daylong event that will include appearances by Mavericks' coach Scott Hillman, Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen, and many other Maverick players and staff. There will be a ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m. and hockey stick fitting by Mavericks' forward Simon Watson. Players will also hold multiple clinics throughout the summer for players of all ages and skill levels. Hockey Republic is conveniently located inside the SHOCKING PRICES store, on the northwest corner of Highway 291 and 23rd street.
