
Al to Join Hockey Icon Barry Melrose in Opening of New Dunkin' Donuts

Syracuse, NY (June 17, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that their mascot, Al the Ice Gorilla, will be in attendance at the grand opening of a new Dunkin' Donuts location in Lansing, New York, on Saturday, June 26 along with hockey icon and current ESPN hockey analyst, Barry Melrose.
Al and Melrose will be on hand at the new Dunkin' Donuts in Lansing from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. to meet and greet fans, take pictures and sign autographs. The new Dunkin' Donuts site in Lansing is located at 32 Peruville Rd. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to win a number of giveaways and prizes, courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts.
Melrose, 53, appeared in 300 career NHL games as a defenseman with Winnipeg, Toronto and Detroit from 1979-86, collecting 10 goals, 23 assists and 778 penalty minutes. In addition to his career as a player, Melrose has served as a head coach at the junior, AHL and NHL levels, winning a Memorial Cup with Medicine Hat in 1987-88, a Calder Cup with Adirondack in 1991-92 and guided the Los Angeles Kings to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1992-93.
Employing 15 crew members and shop managers, the new restaurant, located inside a 4,000 square foot Xtra Mart convenience store, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will offer travelers convenience and ease with drive-thru service in addition to accommodating seating indoors.
The Lansing store will be managed by the CNY Foodservice Group LLC, an independently owned and operated franchise network of the Dunkin' Brands system and a division of the Wolak Group. The store franchisees are Ed Wolak, Roy Clark and Tom Santurri.
Season tickets for the 2010-11 season are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, or by stopping by the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
