Cincinnati Cyclones Protect ECHL Rights On 22 Players

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, announced they have protected the ECHL playing rights of 22 players for the 2010-11 season. Teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided the players protected meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association which state that teams shall retain the rights to each player that: 1. Signed a Standard Players Contract (SPC) in 2009-10, and has not been traded or released, OR 2. Signed Standard Players Contract in 2009-10, and was recalled to the National Hockey League, the American Hockey League or an International Ice Hockey Federation team, and has not been traded or released, OR 3. Received a 2009-10 Qualifying Offer for the current season, and DID NOT sign a Standard Players Contract, and has not been traded or released, OR 4. Has been suspended by the team or League, and has not been traded or released, OR 5. Signed Standard Players Contract on or after the first day of the 2009-10 regular season, then subsequently signed an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released, OR 6. Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form, and has not been traded or released The Cyclones have protected the rights to forwards Mathieu Aubin, Hans Benson, Ryan Del Monte, Barret Ehgoetz, Josh Heidinger, Adam Henrich, Jimmy Kilpatrick, Chris Morehouse, Will Ortiz, Matt Pierce, Scott Reynolds, Brett Robinson and Dustin Sproat. The club also protected the playing rights to defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Cullen Eddy, Shawn Fensel, Doug Krantz, Brett Motherwell, Brian O'Hanley, Kevin Roeder, Brock Sheahan and Dwayne Zinger.

Teams are allowed to sign players on their own protected list up until July 1. At that time, teams will be able to make Qualifying Offers to as many as eight players for the 2010-11 season.

The Cincinnati Cyclones will open training camp in early October. Season tickets for the Cyclones are currently on sale and can be obtained by contacting the team's sales department at 513-421-PUCK (7825).
