Anaheim Acquires Sixth Round Pick in 2010 Draft from Pittsburgh for Rights to Modig

Syracuse, NY (May 28, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have acquired a sixth-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for the rights to goaltender Mattias Modig.

Modig, 23, appeared in 34 contests with Lulea HF of the Swedish Elite League (SEL) in 2009-10, recording a 2.49 goals-against average and .899 save percentage. Modig appeared in a career-high 40 contests with Lulea in 2008-09, finishing tied for the league lead in shutouts (4) and third among league goaltenders in goals against average (2.25).

A native of Lulea, Sweden, Modig has skated in 121 career SEL contests, posting a 2.53 goals against average with eight shutouts. He was selected by Anaheim in the fourth round, 121st overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
