
Former PrairieThunder Defenseman Spoltore Dies

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Former Bloomington PrairieThunder defenseman John Spoltore succumbed to brain cancer Friday.
The 38-year-old Bridgeton, N.J. native finished his 12-year professional hockey career with the PrairieThunder in the 2006-07 season. He came to Bloomington in a trade with the Chicago Hounds midway through the season.
Spoltore, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in March, scored seven goals with 26 assists for 33 points in 45 games with the PrairieThunder. The 26 assists were a team record for defenseman until Jason Lepine scored 33 this past season.
