Spitfires Defeat Barrie Colts 5-2 at the WFCU Centre, Take 3-0 Series Lead

With today's 5-2 win over the Colts at the WFCU Centre, Windsor has won seven consecutive playoff games and has taken a 3-0 lead in the Rogers OHL Championship Series. The Spitfires will face the Colts in game four of the series this upcoming Tuesday at the WFCU Centre at 7:05 pm. If the Spitfires win Tuesday's contest, they will secure their second consecutive OHL Championship and also their second straight trip to the MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Goaltender Philipp Grubauer won his seventh consecutive game of the playoffs and made several spectacular saves, as he stopped 42 of 44 shots en route to being selected the Penalty Box's First Star of the game. He is also ranked first in the OHL with two shutouts and is ranked first in the league with 15 wins in 17 playoff games.

Forward Adam Henrique scored three goals in today's game including the game winning goal shorthanded 12:49 into the second period and has scored at least one goal in seven of his past eight games. He was named the Penalty Box's Second Star of the game and is tied with teammates Taylor Hall and Ryan Ellis for second in the Rogers OHL Championship series scoring with four points in three games. Henrique still leads the Spitfires and is second in the OHL in goals scored with 19. He is also ranked third on the team and is ranked sixth in the league with 24 points in 18 playoff games while being tied for 10th in the OHL with teammate Ryan Ellis with a +11 plus-minus rating.

Forward Scott Timmins scored one goal and was selected as the Penalty Box's Third Star of the game, the second consecutive game during which he has been named a star. He is currently ranked third in the OHL with a +14 plus-minus rating. He is also ranked third on the Spitfires and is tied for sixth overall in the OHL with ten goals scored while being fourth overall in team scoring and tied for 10th in the league with 20 points in 18 playoff games.

Forward Taylor Hall registered three assists in today's game and has 12 multi-point games in the playoffs. He leads the Spitfires in points while being ranked second in the OHL with 30 points in 18 playoff games, and is also second in the league with a +15 plus-minus rating. Hall is also ranked third in the OHL and second on the Spitfires with 15 goals in the post-season and is ranked fourth in the league with 17 assists.

Defenceman Ryan Ellis registered two assists today, his 10th multi-point game of the playoffs and has at least one point in all but three of the Spitfires' playoff games. Ellis is ranked first amongst all OHL defencemen, and is second on the Spitfires in scoring while being ranked third overall in the OHL with 30 points in 18 playoff games. He also leads all defencemen and is ranked first in the league with 27 assists.

Forward Justin Shugg scored one goal today and has five goals along with 13 points in 17 playoff games.

Defenceman Mark Cundari registered one assist today, his third straight game with a point along with a +3 plus-minus rating. He leads the Rogers OHL Championship Series in scoring with five points in three games. Cundari leads the OHL with a +20 plus-minus rating and is second in the league amongst all defencemen with 18 points in 18 playoff games while being tied for fifth overall in the OHL with 15 assists.

Windsor scored one goal on eight power play opportunities and held Barrie scoreless on seven chances. Windsor has held Barrie to one power play goal on seventeen chances in the series.
