(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush dropped game six of the Northern Conference Finals 2-0 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. ‘Bugs netminder Parker Van Buskirk stopped all 27 shots for his first professional shutout, dealing the Rush just their third shutout of the season.

Despite an even amount of shots on net, the Mudbugs controlled the second period, taking a 2-0 lead. The first goal came at the 5:07 mark on a play set up by amateur Adam Blasford who collected his first professional point in his first pro game. On a 2-on-1, Tyrel Lucas slid a puck over to Blasford who one-touched it right back and Lucas buries into the open net. Near the midway point of the period, the Mudbugs would double the lead with Brett Smith's 3rd goal of the postseason. Bossier-Shreveport began a rush from just outside of the Rapid City zone and after a cross-ice pass from David Rutherford, Smith fired a one-timer home.

From that point on, Parker Van Buskirk and the stingy Mudbugs defense shut down the Rapid City offense and held on for the 2-0 victory.

Rapid City was unable to get anything going through six chances on the powerplay, being held scoreless for the fifth time this series. On the other side, the Rush penalty kill was perfect for the second straight game.

Parker Van Buskirk earned his first career shutout and moves to 3-2 while Danny Battochio stopped 22 shots in just his second loss of the playoffs.

The Mudbug win now sets up a decisive game seven tomorrow at 6:35pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The winner of tomorrow's contest will advance to the Ray Miron President's Cup Finals. Tickets are still available for the game.
