Mac Bennett Earns USHL All-Rookie Team Honors
The United States Hockey League today announced the Center Trophy USHL All-Rookie Team as determined by a vote of League coaches.
Cedar Rapids defenseman, Mac Bennett, was one of the six All- Rookies named. The USHL All-Rookie Team recognizes first-year USHL players who were not classified as Junior 'A' veterans upon entering the League.
"We are very happy for Mac.He was a very important player on our team and we wish Mac all the best at the Univ. of Michigan and beyond." said Head Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson.
The Warrick, Rhode Island nativerecorded 24 points (9g, 15a) and a plus-17 rating in 53 games during his rookie season with the RoughRiders. Three of his goals were game-winners, tying him for third among USHL blueliners. The recently turned 19-year-old was selected to play in the 2010 USHL All-Star Game in January. Bennett was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round (79th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He will play collegiately at the University of Michigan.
