Mooseheads To Flip For 1st Overall Pick In QMJHL Draft

The Halifax Mooseheads will hope the coin lands in their favour Thursday morning when they flip with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for the 1st Overall pick in the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft. The Mooseheads have only selected 1st in the QMJHL Entry Draft once in their 16 year history during their inaugural season of 1994, when they selected Etienne Drapeau 1st overall.

"Obviously it'd be great to have the 1st overall pick, but regardless we are in a position to acquire a very good prospect for our Organization at #1 or #2", stated Mooseheads Coach and General Manager Cam Russell. "It's an exciting time for the franchise and our fans."

The Mooseheads hold 5 picks in the top 37 selections at this year's Draft. They will pick 1st or 2nd overall, 19th, 25th, 28th and 37th. This is a major shift in strategy for the Mooseheads, who have had just four 1st round picks in the last 9 QMJHL Entry Drafts.

The 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft will be held Saturday, June 5th in Drummondville, Quebec.
