Moose Loan Marty Murray To Admirals In Exchange For Peter Olvecky

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have loaned centre Marty Murray to the Milwaukee Admirals in exchange for forward Peter Olvecky.
Olvecky, 24, has appeared in 62 games so far this season for the Admirals. In that span, he has scored 34 points (11g & 23a) along with 22 penalty minutes. The native of Trencin, Slovakia has also played in one game this season with the Admirals NHL affiliate, the Nashville Predators.
In his five-year pro career, Olvecky has appeared in 300 AHL games with Milwaukee and the Houston Aeros, where he has scored 149 points (60g & 89a) and collected 193 penalty minutes. He also played in 15 Calder Cup playoff games with Houston where he scored a goal and an assist as well as six penalty minutes. In 32 career NHL games with Minnesota and Nashville, Olvecky has seven points (2g & 5a) and 12 penalty minutes. Olvecky was originally drafted by Minnesota in the third round, 78th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Murray, 35, was in his first season with the Moose where he played in 59 games, scoring 30 points (10g & 20a) and collecting 26 penalty minutes. The Lyleton, MB native has appeared in 405 American Hockey League games over his 14-year pro career with Saint John, Philadelphia, Manchester, and Manitoba. In that span, Murray has scored 372 points (117g & 255a) and 205 penalty minutes. He won a Calder Cup with the Saint John Flames back in 2001 and was named the starting centre for the Canadian All-Stars at the 1996 and 1997 AHL All-Star Classics. Murray has also played in 261 National Hockey League games with Calgary, Philadelphia, Carolina, and Los Angeles. In that time, he's scored 73 points (31g & 42a) and 41 penalty minutes. Murray was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round, 96th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
