Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Jim Jorgensen's first goal as a Mudbug was also the game-winner as Bossier-Shreveport surged back from a 2-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals in a 4-2 win over the Texas Brahmas Tuesday night at the CenturyTel Center. The 'Bugs improved to 4-3 against the rival Brahmas with the victory, which was also their 30th of the season.

Jeff Kyrzakos (2g, 1a), Shawn Limpright (1g, 2a) and Travis Clayton (3a) all finished with three points on the night and the Mudbugs scored twice on the powerplay. John DeCaro finished with 17 saves as Bossier-Shreveport outshot Texas 13-4 in the third period and 32-19 overall.

Texas got on the board with a powerplay goal early in this one as Ross Rouleau's point shot found the top corner to put the Brahmas up 1-0 just 1:06 into the game. The Mudbugs ended up outshooting Texas 10-6 in the opening period, but trailed 1-0 after one.

The Brahmas added to the lead when Matt Burto redirected a Tyrell Mason shot past John DeCaro at 11:44 to make it 2-0. The 'Bugs answered with a powerplay goal later in the period when Clayton's shot from in close was blocked but the puck caromed right to Kyrzakos, who put it off the post and in to cut the Texas lead in half at 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The 'Bugs netted two quick goals in the first 2:30 of the third to take the lead for good. Kyrzakos redirected a point shot from Chris St. Croix to score his second of the night and tie the game just 45 seconds into the final frame. Jorgensen's game-winner came 45 seconds later during another powerplay after he received a perfect pass from Clayton and one-timed a quick shot past Brett Jaeger from the high slot to make it 3-2. Shawn Limpright salted away the win with less than three minutes to go, beating Jaeger high to the glove side from the hash marks to provide the final 4-2 margin.

DeCaro improves to 18-11-1 with the win, while Brett Jaeger saw a personal eight-game win streak end despite making 28 saves. Bossier-Shreveport scored on two of six powerplay opportunities and Texas was 1 for 3.

The Mudbugs will now play three-in-three on road this weekend, starting Friday night in Allen before going on to Tulsa for games Saturday and Sunday at the BOK Center. Friday's game at the Allen Event Center will get underway at 7:30 pm with pregame coverage starting at 7:10 on News Radio 710 AM KEEL. The game will also be shown live online on CHL TV.
