Karl Sellan's Hat Trick Wins Weekly Award

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Missouri forward Karl Sellan has been voted the winner of the CHL Performance of the Week for the week of February 8-14. The Mavericks forward scored the franchise's first hat trick in a 6-1 win over Mississippi on February 13.

The Montreal native won one of the closest votes in the poll's three-year history earning 39% of the 15,419 votes cast. Sellan's hat trick received 5,957 votes finishing 334 votes ahead of Texas' Brett Jaeger whose 28-save shutout over Laredo on February 12 received 5,623 votes (36%). Sellan has 11 goals, five assists and 166 penalty minutes in 32 games this season with the expansion Mavericks.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week 19 of the season for the period beginning on February 15 and ending on February 21 are as follows:

-Wichita's Ian Keserich making 27 saves in first win in INTRUST Bank Arena for the Thunder in a 1-0 victory over Texas on February 21

-Rapid City's Derek LeBlanc scoring game winning goal 42 seconds into overtime of their 1-0 win over Colorado on February 16

-Corpus Christi's Kevin Beech shutting out the North leaders, Rapid City, making 39 saves in the 5-0 win on February 20

-Bossier-Shreveport's John DeCaro making 29 saves in 6-0 shutout win over Tulsa on February 21

-Corpus Christi's Chad Woollard scoring third hat trick in a month in a 9-4 win over Laredo on February 19

Fans can vote for the winner until Monday, March 1 with the winner being announced on Tuesday, March 2.
