Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-During this Saturday's match-up with the Youngstown Phantoms, the Waterloo Black Hawks will celebrate the attendance of one million fans at regular season home games since Butch and Pat Johnson and Northwest Sports Inc. took ownership of the team in 1997.

"Our entire organization could not be more thankful to call the Cedar Valley home," said Black Hawks President Doug Miller. "The fans here have consistently found new, amazing ways to show their love for this team. Our staff, coaches, ownership, and hundreds of former and current players just can't say 'thank you' enough for making this place so much fun on game nights."

For the year, 63,616 people have attended games at 2,979-seat Young Arena. Since the beginning of the 1997-1998 hockey season, 995,124 have enjoyed Black Hawks action during the regular season. Fans have pushed the franchise to a new attendance record each successive year since 2004-2005.

The Black Hawks will honor their one millionth fan with a ceremonial presentation on ice prior to Saturday's game. The lucky individual will receive a special Waterloo Black Hawks jersey to commemorate the occasion. The entire team will also wear a "Thanks A Million" patch on their home uniforms for the remainder of the season.

Tickets for both Black Hawks games at Young Arena are still available. The first 1,000 fans in attendance Friday will receive a partial set of 2009-2010 Black Hawks player cards courtesy of iWireless when the Black Hawks host the Fargo Force. The first 1,000 people at Saturday's game will get a Waterloo Black Hawks hockey puck, compliments of Casey's General Stores. Both games begin at 7:05.
