Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas - The Americans started off their stretch of six games in eight days tonight with a 2-1 overtime victory in front of the faithful fans that trekked out in the snow. The win puts Allen at 32-10-3 (67 points).
Captain Jarret Lukin netted the first goal of the game on the power play at 7:55 of the first period. Tyler Wooddisse's shot rebounded off of the boards behind Oilers' goalie Marty Magers and straight to Lukin's stick. The Americans posted nine shots on goal, while Tulsa registered seven in the opening frame.
The Americans held the Oilers scoreless for almost 23 minutes of play before Dan Riedel tied the game at one on the power play in the second period. The right winger fired a slap shot from the right circle past Americans netminder Chris Whitley at 10:40.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the third period. Alternate captain and 2010 CHL All-Star Bruce Graham notched the game-winning goal 47 seconds into overtime. He skated into Tulsa's zone and put one away top shelf to secure a 2-1 win for the Americans. Graham now leads Allen in scoring this season with 55 points.
The Americans are 3-0-0 while wearing their blue uniforms at home.
Whitley made 25 saves tonight and earned his twenty-fourth win this year, which is his eighth in a row.
The Americans travel to Amarillo tomorrow night before going to Texas Saturday for back-to-back road games. Both contests have 7:05 p.m. start times.
