GreenHawks Acquire Randy Gill From Rochester

ROCKVILLE, MD. -- The Maryland GreenHawks pulled off a trade with the Rochester RazorSharks, acquiring guard Randy Gill in exchange for the team's 2010 first round draft pick. To make move on the roster, the GreenHawks released guard Lamar Castile.

Gill last played for Maryland during the 2007-08 season where he averaged 16.6 ppg, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

During the 2008-09 season, Gill was named to the All-PBL first team splitting time between Montreal and Detroit where he averaged 21.9 ppg, 4.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

"I'm happy to be coming home," said Gill. "I learned a lot playing under coach Baker and thank him and the entire Rochester RazorSharks organization for the opportunity. I'm excited to be putting back on a Maryland jersey and turning things around."

In seven games this season with the RazorSharks, Gill has been averaging 8.3 ppg, 1.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in limited minutes.

Gill recorded a season high 19 points and seven assists in a 133-109 victory over the Buffalo Stamped on January 9.

"Randy brings experience, finesse and the ability to hit down the outside shot," General Manager Adam Dantus said. "We're excited to be able to add him and feel like he's someone that's going to help our team moving forward."

Gill will be in uniform when the team hosts the Puerto Rico Capitanes this Saturday, February 13 at 7PM.
