Peoria Rivermen News Release

NEWS AND NOTES

Where they stand...The Rivermen currently sit in sixth place of the West Division with 54 points. Peoria's 54 points would be good enough to qualify for the playoffs in both the East and the North divisions. The top four teams in the division (Texas, Rockford, Milwaukee, Chicago) are separated by just three points and the 62-point cutoff is the highest among the AHL's four divisions.

All or nothing...Since Jan. 2 the Rivermen are averaging 4.6 goals per game in their five wins but just 1.5 in their 10 losses. Their power play 9-for-21 (43 percent) in the victories while it is 6-for-39 (15 percent) in the defeats.

Goose Egg...Saturday's 5-0 loss was the third time the Rivermen have been shutout this season and the first since a Nov. 18 1-0 loss to Houston.

Shutout Wanted...Peoria, San Antonio and Springfield are the only three teams in the AHL without a shutout. The Rivermen and Rampage will meet in Peoria this weekend for a two-game series.

Take two...Wednesday was the first time all season that Peoria had to use two goalies in the same game (in game no. 48). They pulled their netminder twice in their three games this week.

Shots don't mean goals...The Rivermen set new lows in shots against on Wednesday with 16 and again on Saturday with 15 but lost both of those games by a combined score of 9-1. They outshot their opponents 67-31 in those games.
