LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws are once again looking for local families to assist in housing players during the 2010 baseball season.

Anyone can help provide lodging for this year-s BlueClaws by either providing space or renting a room/apartment. In past years, the BlueClaws have received many inquiries from the community about hosting a BlueClaws player, however usually a pool of nearly 30 homes is needed to house the team.

"Host families are critical to the success of our organization," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "Not only are they important, but the bonds our players make with their host families create memories that last a lifetime."

The BlueClaws are always looking to add to their list of families, especially homes in which Spanish is spoken, because of the number of Latin American players in the organization.

"I go back every off-season to see my host family from when I was with the BlueClaws," said former BlueClaws catcher and current Cleveland Indian Lou Marson. "I have only good things to say about everything in Lakewood."

The regular season runs from April 16 until September 6 (pending playoffs) and players typically range from 19 to 24 years of age.

If you are interested in hosting a player, or want more information, contact BlueClaws Front Office Manager Jaimie Smith at 732-901-7000, extension 100 or email jsmith@blueclaws.com.

The 2010 season will mark the BlueClaws tenth season of play, and the team will have a new logo and new uniforms for the first time in team history.

The BlueClaws won their second South Atlantic League title in 2009, and led the league in attendance for the ninth straight year. The team also won the league-s Club Merit Award and became the fastest in New Jersey and SAL history to reach 4-million fans.
