Hinz Named Oakley/CHL Player Of The Week

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced today that veteran forward Chad Hinz has been named Oakley/CHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 31.

Hinz, 30, collected seven points (2g/5a) and was plus-2 in three road games last week, helping the Sundogs to a 2-0-1 record and five of a possible six points.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native collected an assist in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Jackalopes on Friday, Jan. 29 before exploding for four points (1g/3a), including the shootout winner, in 6-5 shootout win over Odessa the following night.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound forward added two points (1g/1a) and netted his second straight game-winner Sunday afternoon in a 3-2 win over the Amarillo Gorillas.

Acquired by the Sundogs from the expansion Missouri Mavericks on January 20, Hinz has totaled eight points (3g/5a) in just five contests with Arizona. The 12-year-pro is averaging a point per game this season, recording 12 goals and 25 assists in 37 contests.
