MILWAUKEE (Feb. 1, 2010) - With two goals and two assists in a critical victory at Baltimore on Saturday, Milwaukee Wave forward Giuliano Oliviero has been named the Major Indoor Soccer League Player of the Week.

He opened with a penalty kick and then assisted on the Wave's second goal to put the Wave up 4-2. That assist gave the 15-year veteran 1,000 regular season points for his career, a milestone reached by less than two dozen indoor soccer players.

Oliviero later extended the advantage to 8-2 and then picked up the assist on JP Rodrigues' clinching goal in the fourth quarter.

Oliviero's career began with the Wave in 1995-96, and after two seasons here he played in Montreal, Toronto and Cleveland before returning to Milwaukee in the 2003-04 season. He's fifth all-time on the Wave's point scoring list with 415, after passing Joe Reiniger (410) on Saturday.

For the season Oliviero has 29 points (1 3PG, 8 2PG, 10A), third in the MISL.

The Wave visit Philadelphia (3-6) on Saturday, their first visit to the Liacouras Center at Temple University. They return home at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 against the Rockford Rampage in the Go Pink! game presented by Valvoline Instant Oil Change. Purchase a limited edition pink soccer ball to get autographs from former Packers stars such as Antonio Freeman and Frank Winters. You still need a game ticket in addition to the pink ball.
