Sylvia Fowles To Appear At NBA All-Star Weekend Event

CHICAGO, January 28, 2009 - Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles will join Ketia4Kidz Foundation in hosting the Fort Hood NBA All-Star event on February 13 at Fort Hood, TX.

Ketia4Kidz, run by Ketia Swanier of the Phoenix Mercury, is a foundation that focuses on providing services to the children of deployed and severely injured active duty service military members. During the three-hour long Fort Hood NBA All-Star event members and friends of the foundation including Fowles, Temeka Johnson (Phoenix Mercury) and several NBA players will pass on their basketball knowledge as well as visit with children, wounded veterans and more.

Fowles, who is currently in Russia playing for Spartak Moscow in the Euroleague, will greet the children and perform a question and answer session with everyone in attendance via Skype.

"This is a great opportunity to help people out, especially kids who could use it," said Fowles. "I try not to pass on any chances to help kids and I definitely couldn't pass on this one. I'm excited to meet everyone in attendance and answer any questions they might have."

Johnson will also appear via Skype as she is in France playing basketball. In addition to the Skype addresses, the event will include a basketball clinic led by Swanier and trainer D-TRAINED.
