Knoxville Ice Bears News Release
After last night's game that saw 10 goals, defense was key for both teams tonight as the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Huntsville Havoc in back-to-back games. Ice Bears' forward Mike Kneeland produced the first goal of the night off a face off pass from Frank Furdero. This was Kneeland's first goal as an Ice bears and his first goal this season. Knoxville's hard-hitting defense kept the Havoc off the board uas the first period ended 1-0.
Huntsville was able to light the lamp on a power play just five minutes into the second period. Knoxville was unable to convert on a Havoc penalty, ending the period tied 1-1. The Ice Bears overwhelmed the Havoc with three goals in the third. Kevin Harris scored off a pass from Donald Melnyk five minutes into the period.
Furdero took advantage of a delayed power play call to score his ninth goal of the season. Melnyk sealed the deal with an empty-netter goal. Both Furdero and Melnyk had a goal and an assist in the win over Huntsville Havoc, 4-1.
