Otters Acquire G Courchaine And F Appio From Sarnia

January 10, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Erie Otters News Release


The Erie Otters from the Ontario Hockey League have acquired goaltender Adam Courchaine and forward Brett Appio from the Sarnia Sting in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, a third round pick in 2011 and a fourth round pick in 2012.

Courchaine, currently playing in his overage year, is an undrafted prospect in the Boston Bruins system. With Sarnia, the 6-3, 185-lb. goaltender has an 8-16-2 record with a 3.51 goals-against-average. The Kanata, Ontario resident has four games of experience in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins.

Born on April 26, 1991, Appio is among the OHL leaders in penalty minutes with 111. In 88 career OHL games, all with Sarnia, the 6-1, 195-lb. forward from Bolton, Ontario has 14 points and 198 penalty minutes.

The Otters return to Erie with a three-game homestand starting Friday night against the Brampton Battalion at 7:00 p.m. The Otters will host the Sarnia Sting Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and the Kitchener Rangers Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, the Civic Center box office, or by calling 452-4857.
