New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, today announced that an all-time record $158,504.38 was raised for charity at the Granite State Baseball Dinner, presented by Northeast Delta Dental, on November 21. Monies raised through dinner ticket sales, raffle tickets and a silent and live memorabilia auction benefit the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), the Ted Williams Museum and the Fisher Cats Foundation.

"It was another tremendous night to celebrate our national pastime with so many friends, and we applaud all the staff members, volunteers, fans, business partners and special guests for making the Granite State Baseball Dinner, presented by Northeast Delta Dental, such an outstanding success," said Fisher Cats owner and chairman of the Fisher Cats Foundation board Art Solomon. "The memories will last us for a long time, and the financial support goes a long way in assisting three very deserving causes."

"On behalf of everyone at CHaD, I would like to express our deepest appreciation for the support and friendship of the entire Fisher Cats organization, the Ted Williams Museum and the volunteer committee members who helped make the Granite State Baseball Dinner an incredible success in every way," said Paul Merguerian, MD, Director of CHaD. "As New Hampshire's children's hospital, CHaD provides an extended system of care that offers advanced pediatric services to children as close to home as possible. Just in southern New Hampshire, CHaD has 38 providers in 14 medical and surgical specialties delivering "big city" medical care as well as outpatient procedures in Manchester, Nashua and Dover. Only with the tireless contributions of community organizations and volunteers like these are we able to provide the kind of care that makes CHaD special."

"It is satisfying to see our partnership with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth help create such a wonderful event, with fans able to get up close and personal with so many sports heroes," said Ted Williams Museum and Hitters Hall of Fame Executive Director Dave McCarthy. "We thank everyone who provided us with this much-needed financial backing to further our mission of celebrating baseball through outreach and education."

As New Hampshire's only children's hospital, CHaD provides an extended system of care that offers advanced clinical services for children. CHaD is committed to providing outstanding compassionate care for children and their families. Their physician expertise provides primary, specialty and tertiary care to the children of New Hampshire, Vermont and beyond.

The goal of the Ted Williams Museum is to preserve and build on the rich tradition and heritage of our national pastime. The proceeds from the Granite State Baseball Dinner are invaluable to ensure the museum's continued existence and to provide for its youth programs and scholarships for deserving student athletes.

The Fisher Cats Foundation is a statewide charitable organization dedicated to bettering the lives of young people by supporting CHaD and providing scholarships to college-bound New Hampshire and Massachusetts students. Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athlete Scholarship recipients are selected using criteria that include academic achievement, athletic achievement and active citizenship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and citizens of New Hampshire or Massachusetts.
