Falcons Receive Goaltender On Loan From Anaheim

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today they have received goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur (pronounced LEV-a-sur) on loan from the Anaheim Ducks. Levasseur is set to join the Falcons on Monday as they prepare to head to Lowell on Tuesday to take on the Devils.

The 6-foot, 197-pound native of Victoriaville, Quebec has been playing with the Central Hockey League's Laredo Bucks this year posting a record of 10-1-3 with a 2.35 goals against average and .918 save percentage. Levasseur was named the CHL's Sher-wood/TPS goaltender of the month for November. The 22-year-old Levasseur went 6-1-1 in November, including winning four-straight one-goal games from November 6th-15th. He had a 2.29 goals against average and stopped 215 of 234 shots for a .919 save percentage. Three of Levasseur's six wins in the month came in shootouts, where he stopped a total of 13 out of 14 shootout attempts.

Levassuer was drafted in the seventh round (197th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and spent parts of the last two seasons in the AHL. Levasseur has played in 51 career AHL games, posting a combined record of 17-23-5 with the Portland Pirates (07-08) and Iowa Chops (08-09).
