Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks won for the fourth time in eight days Saturday, topping the USHL Eastern Division co-leading Indiana Ice 5-2 at Young Arena.
Waterloo scored twice in the first. Dan Sova crept to the net to take a Brock Montpetit feed on a power play at 6:01. Then at four-on-four but with a delayed penalty coming against the Ice, Bryce Ravndalen added to the lead with his first USHL goal at 17:51, on a rebound at the top of the crease.
The Ice drew even in the second with two goals in just over four minutes from Adam Phillips and Max Cook. Just 43 seconds later, Tyler Barnes put the Hawks back in front, sliding a puck through a defender's skates, back to himself, to set up a point-blank backhander.
Jamie Hill and Montpetit added third period goals to finish the win. C.J. Motte stopped 32 shots to move his personal record back to .500. The victory comes after wins against the USHL-leading Omaha Lancers Wednesday and the archrival Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Thursday, also both by three-goal margins.
Waterloo will face the new Eastern Division leaders, the Green Bay Gamblers, during a home-and-home series next weekend. The Hawks are in Green Bay Friday, with a return visit Saturday at 7:05. The first 2,500 fans in attendance receive a Black Hawks window decal courtesy of Famous Dave's.
