Former RockHound Andrew Bailey was named the American League Rookie of the Year today.  Bailey spent all of 2008 with the RockHounds before getting the chance to pitch out of the bullpen in Oakland to start this season.  Andrew Bailey started the 2008 season in the RockHounds rotation and posted a 1-8 record with a 6.18 ERA in 15 starts.  He was then moved to the bullpen on June 28th and proceeded to dominate Texas League hitters with a 4-1 record, 0.92 ERA and a.207 BAA in 22 appearances.

Bailey continued his climb by putting together a strong season in the prestigious Arizona Fall League last year and jumped on to the big league squad in Spring Training this past April.
