Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that running back Joffrey Reynolds and offensive lineman Ben Archibald are West Division finalists for the 2009 Canadian Football League's Gibson's Finest Player Awards.
Reynolds will represent the West Division for the Most Outstanding Player award while Archibald is a finalist for the Most Outstanding Lineman honour. The winners will be announced on Thursday, Nov 26 at Calgary's Telus Convention Centre as part of Grey Cup Week festivities.
Reynolds led all CFL rushers in 2009 with 1,504 yards as he won his second consecutive rushing title. He also led the league with nine 100-yard games and 1,935 yards from scrimmage. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns for a total of 13 majors, which ranked him second in the CFL.
The 29-year-old Tyler. Tex., product is in his sixth season with the Stamps and during the past season he moved into second place on the franchise's all-time rushing list.
Archibald started all 18 games at the all-important left tackle position this past season and has been a cornerstone in one of the league's top units. The Stamps led the league in rushing yards per game (129.7), yards per carry (6.0) and were third in fewest sacks allowed (34).
The Tacoma. Wash., native is completing his second season with the Red and White.
The next Stamps home game is the Western Division Semi-Final on Nov. 15 against the Edmonton Eskimos. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. at McMahon Stadium. Limited tickets are still available and fans are encouraged to pick up their tickets by contacting Ticketmaster (403.777.0000 or online at Ticketmaster.ca) or visiting any local Safeway or Sport Chek location.
