New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Nov. 11, 2009 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds announced today that they will be hosting an exhibition game on Nov. 25 at Tingley Coliseum. The Thunderbirds will tip off against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, affiliate for the reigning NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers, at 6:00 p.m.
"To play a team like Los Angeles is special," said head coach John Coffino. "They did a good job in the draft, and it will be a great first test to see where we are after camp. I'm looking forward to a hard fought game and getting our season underway."
Admission is free with a non-perishable food item, or attendees can pay a $4 general admission. The team will be partnering with the Roadrunner Food Bank, with all food and half of the gate receipts going to the organization.
"Playing for a worthy cause is paramount to what our organization is about," said Coffino. "I hope the community can support the team and help to feed the hungry."
The T-Birds will begin the 2009-10 season against the Bakersfield Jam on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m. The team will then play its exhibition opponent, the Los Angeles D-Fenders, on Nov. 28 at 7:00 pm.
Thunderbirds Season Tickets and mini plans are still available for as low as $4 per game. Call 505.265.3865 or visit www.abqtbirds.com for more information. Make plans now to be at Opening Weekend, Nov. 27 and 28.
