The Niagara IceDogs will be participating in the annual Movember campaign in support of Prostate Cancer Canada. The team will all be committed to growing Moustaches for the month of Movember (formerly November) in order to help bring attention to this great cause. The IceDogs will be collecting donations in support of this Movember campaign and while we certainly appreciate any and all donations, we would specifically like to encourage fans to pledge a certain amount for each IceDogs goal scored during the month of Movember. Hopefully we can score a lot of goals and raise a significant amount of money in support of this great cause. You will be able to keep track of the number of goals we have scored through weekly updates on www.niagaraicedogs.net and through game by game updates on the players and staff Movember profile pages. The goal is to raise $100 for each IceDogs goal scored during the month of Movember.
We will be collecting donations directly through the Movember website and you can make your donation to the Niagara IceDogs team by going to http://ca.movember.com/mospace/300372/ and clicking the donate to my team link.
Donations are accepted via Credit Card or PayPal through the site. You can also write a cheque payable to 'Prostate Cancer Canada', referencing Registration Number 300372 and mail it to: Prostate Cancer Canada, 145 Front Street East, Ste. 306, Toronto, ON M5A 1E3, Canada. In both these cases, your donation is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
If neither of these options work, we will be accepting cash donations at each of the Movember home games (November 5, 7, 12, 21, 27 and 28) and will contribute these funds to our team donation at the end of Movember.
Each individual player and staff member participating will have their own Movember page as part of the Niagara IceDogs team and you will be able to go to that page to find profile pictures of each player which will be updated to show the progress of their Moustache over the course of the month.
All money raised goes to Prostate Cancer Canada to help them continue their battle against prostate cancer.
1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and prostate cancer is the most common cancer to afflict Canadian men with 25,500 diagnosed and 4,400 dying from the disease each year.
The Niagara IceDogs would like to encourage you all to join us in helping to fight the battle against Prostate Cancer.
