Stamps And Riders Battle For First In West

The Calgary Stampeders will travel to Regina to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Nov. 7 in a game that will determine first place in the Canadian Football League's West Division. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (MST) at Mosaic Stadium.

The Stamps traveled to Vancouver last week and defeated the BC Lions 28-26 to improve their record to 10-6-1 and move into sole possession of first place in the West. With a win or tie in Regina on Nov. 7, the Stamps would host the West Final on Nov. 22. With a loss, the Red and White would host the West Semi-Final on Nov. 15. Calgary is 4-4 on the road this season and 6-2-1 against divisional opponents.

The Riders traveled to Hamilton and lost 24-6 to the Tiger-Cats last week in dropping to 9-7-1 and into second place in the West. The Riders are 5-3 at home in 2009 and 4-4-1 against divisional opposition.

This is the third and final regular-season meeting between the Stamps and Riders in 2009. Calgary lost 24-23 to Saskatchewan on Aug. 1 and tied the Riders 44-44 on Oct. 17, with both at Calgary's McMahon Stadium.

Stamps fans not heading to Regina are reminded to get RED-Y for the playoffs at the Stamps' Quest for the West viewing party at Flames Central (219 8th Ave. S.W.). Members of the Stampeders' Outriders will be in attendance and will perform at halftime of the game. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. and there is no charge to get in.
