Chicago Wolves News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill.---Chris Chelios broke a 1-1 tie with 4:07 remaining in the third period to propel the Chicago Wolves to a 3-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena Sunday night.

With the Wolves working on the power play, Chelios corralled a pass from right wing Tim Stapleton in the right face-off circle and cranked a shot through Rockford netminder Joe Fallon, snagging the win for Chicago with his first American Hockey League goal. Defenseman Arturs Kulda added an empty net tally with 14 seconds left to play to round out the scoring, 3-1.

The win marked Chicago's fourth consecutive home game earning at least a point (3-0-0-1), and the third straight defeat of Rockford on Allstate Arena ice this season. The home team has been victorious in 83 percent of 24 all-time regular-season matchups between the two teams.

"We got in penalty trouble tonight but fortunately our penalty kill has been superb," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "Our power play finally started working and we had that wily veteran out there who decided to finish it off for us."

Chicago (4-6-0-1) drew first blood, 3:43 into the contest, when right wing Joey Crabb won the puck out of a scrum in front of the net and sent it sailing past Fallon to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

Fallon (1-3-0) turned aside 22 shots for Rockford.

Rockford (5-7-1-1) knotted the score, 1-1, when left wing Bryan Bickell collected the puck deep in the Wolves zone, walked into the slot and flung a shot past Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre, 8:12 into the second period.

MacIntyre (2-4-0) posted 22 saves for Chicago.

The next Wolves tilt is an Amtrak Rivalry game against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on Wed., Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
