
Shawn Lalonde and Stephen Silas Selected to Compete in 2009 Subway Super Series

Belleville Bulls defencemen Shawn Lalonde and Stephen Silas have been named to the OHL roster for the 2009 Subway Super Series being held in November. Lalonde will compete on both November 19th and 23rd in Barrie and Windsor while Silas will play in the first of the two games. This is the third consecutive season in which Lalonde has participated in this event.
The Subway Super Series features top Canadian and Russian junior stars and is used to help pick Team Canada's selection camp roster for the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship being held in Regina and Saskatoon. The OHL holds a perfect all-time record of 12-0 against Russia in this series which began in 2003.
Lalonde currently sits second in Bulls team scoring with five goals and 13 points despite missing the past five games due to a shoulder injury. Last season, Lalonde finished with 19 goals and 53 points in 66 games played. The Orleans, Ontario participated in Canada's Under 20 Summer Evaluation Camp this past August and previously represented Canada at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Under 18 Tournament.
Silas is third in Bulls scoring with three goals and 12 points in 15 games played this season. The Georgetown, Ontario native was named the Bulls rookie of the Year last season after recording three goals and 17 points in 63 games played. Silas won a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Under 18 Tournament this past August and also won a Gold Medal with Team Ontario at the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in January.
All Games of the 2009 Subway Super Series will be broadcasted nationally on Rogers Sportsnet.
