Springfield Armor News Release
SPRINGFIELD, MA September 24, 2009 - The Springfield Armor today announced that they will play the Maine Red Claws in a preseason game at the Augusta Civic Center on Monday, November 23rd.
It will be the only 2009-10 preseason game for the first two NBA Development League teams to call New England home. The Armor and Red Claws will play nine times during the regular season, beginning with Maine's home opener on Friday, December 4th.
"I'm really looking forward to my first taste of coaching in an NBA D-League game," Armor Head Coach and Director of Basketball Operations Dee Brown said. "It coming against a team we will see more than any other during the regular season will be beneficial for not only myself, (Assistant Coach) Kevin (Whitted) and the players but also for our respective fan bases to kick off what promises to be an exciting rivalry."
Tickets for the preseason game will go on sale Friday, September 25th at 8 a.m. Those interested can go to the Augusta Civic Center Box Office, visit www.ticketmaster.com or call (207) 626-2400.
Following the preseason game against the Red Claws, the Armor will open their inaugural season in the NBA D-League at home against the Iowa Energy on Friday, November 27th. It will be the first of 24 home games for Springfield, which last week announced a local player tryout to be held at Springfield College on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th.
