Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Minnesota Twins announced today that manager Stan Cliburn and coach Rich Miller will not return for the 2010 season with the Minnesota Twins organization. Both Cliburn and Miller will not have their contracts renewed.
Cliburn, 52, compiled a 305-279 (.522) managerial record over four seasons (2006-2009) as manager of the Rochester Red Wings, including a 70-74 record in 2009.
Cliburn led the 2006 Red Wings to an 84-68 record and berth into the Governors' Cup playoffs. Rochester would lose in the Governors' Cup finals to Toledo in five games.
Miller, 58, has spent parts of four seasons (2005-2007, 2009) as a coach/manager with Rochester. On April 21, 2005 he took over as interim manager when manager Phil Roof took a leave of absence to be with his wife who was battling cancer. Rochester went 69-62 under his guidance the rest of the season. Miller would return in 2009 when he replaced hitting coach Riccardo Ingram on July 1, when Ingram took a personal medical leave from the team.
"The Minnesota Twins organization would like to thank both Stan and Rich for their contributions. These changes in Rochester are just part of an overall directional change that is being implemented throughout the minor league system this off-season," said Minnesota Twins Director of Minor League Operations Jim Rantz.
"We can't thank Stan enough for all he did for us the last four seasons, both on the field and promoting Red Wings baseball off the field. This was a business decision by the Minnesota Twins and this is one of those tough days to be in this business," said Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason.
The Minnesota Twins will begin their search process immediately.
