
Volcanoes Erupt for Win

Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils are still struggling to put it all together this season and it showed tonight in a 9-5 loss to Salem-Keizer. The Volcanoes took advantage of three costly Dust Devil errors and numerous other flubs to get their second win in this five game series. Tri-City moves to 24-16 heading into tomorrow's game.
Tim Wheeler started things off for the Dust Devils in the first inning with a single to center field. With one out Ben Paulsen singled to put Wheeler in scoring position. Bo Bowman came up big with a two run triple making the game 2-0.
Rob Scahill found himself in a jam in the top of the fourth inning with bases loaded and two outs. But Scahill, who already registered six strikeouts, struck out Ryne Price to end the inning. Unfortunately that same inning the Volcanoes tied the game at 2-2. Luke Anders started the two out rally with a blooper to center field. Drew Biery then doubled to score Anders and Biery came home on a single by Ryan Cavan to end the fourth inning.
Salem-Keizer kept their bats going into the fifth and sixth innings amassing six more runs. In the fifth inning Evan Crawford was driven home by Chris Dominguez to make the game 3-2. The runs really poured on in the sixth inning as the Volcanoes were able to bring in five more runs.
The Dust Devils made a run of their own in the sixth inning which was started on a single by Wheeler. Ben Paulsen drove Wheeler in with his second triple of the series. Bo Bowman added another run by driving Paulsen in on a single. Kent Matthes made the score 8-5 with an RBI ground out.
Salem Keizer capped their offensive eruption with a run in the eighth inning to make the game 9-5.
Wheeler and Paulsen led the Dust Devils with two hits. Bo Bowman had two hits and three RBI for Tri-City. Scahill allowed two runs on five hits for Tri-City. Craig Bennigson took the loss giving up four earned and one unearned runs.
