
Stingrays Sign First Player for the 2009-10 Season

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Cail MacLean announced today that rookie Nikita Kashirsky has signed for the 2009-10 season. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kashirsky, 24, joined the Stingrays on March 7th last season after finishing his senior year at the University of Norwich (Division III), where he lead the team in goals (17), assists (17), and points (34) while appearing in all 25 games en route to All-ECAC East First Team honors for the second straight campaign. In 34 games with the Rays, with 21 of those games coming in the playoffs, the Moscow, Russia native produced 25 points (9g, 16a) and added 26 penalty minutes.
"We are glad to have Nikita with us again next season," said MacLean. "He led all rookies in scoring during the playoffs and we look for him to be a key piece offensively next year."
Prior to college, the 6-foot, 191-pound forward played one season for the Walpole Stars of the EJHL, totaling 48 goals and 18 assists for 66 points.
