-SAWBUCK SERIES MATCHUP TODAY: The State College Spikes play what has become their annual Fourth of July game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park today against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The SawBuck Series rivals have played 39 times over the past four years, with Williamsport holding a slight edge in the all-time series, 20-19.

-LAST NIGHT: The Spikes brought out the lumber with 14 hits, including ten for extra bases, to club the Auburn Doubledays, 11-3, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Four players collected two or more hits, including three each for Ty Summerlin and Aaron Baker. Baker also had two doubles, part of seven State College team doubles on the game. Kyle Morgan launched his first home run of the year in the first inning to open the Spikes' scoring, and Pat Irvine set a season high with four runs batted in. Maurice Bankston started and earned the win for the Spikes, and Michael Felix finished with four hitless innings for the save.

-STARTING FROM START WITH COX: Opening Night starter Tyler Cox goes back to the mound for his fourth start of the year today. Cox has a decision in each of his previous starts, including an Opening Night loss to Williamsport. In his last two starts, however, the left-hander has struck out seven and allowed just two runs over 10.2 innings.

-CUTTERS SEND LEBRON TO THE HILL: Right-hander Siulman Lebron starts today for Williamsport, completing the Opening Night pitching rematch. Lebron picked up the win against State College back on June 19, then followed with seven shutout innings and ten strikeouts to earn the victory against Batavia on June 24. However, Lebron took the loss on June 29, allowing five runs (four earned) on ten hits against Batavia.

-INDEPENDENCE DAY AT THE PARK: Today marks the Spikes' first day game of the year, and it's a Scratch 'n' Win Saturday, with every fan a winner. After the game is over, Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will close for approximately 90 minutes before the gates reopen to allow fans to see the fireworks from inside the ballpark. Admission to the park tonight will be free.
