ST. LOUIS, MO- The Wichita Thunder today sadly announce the passing of long time goal judge Gary "Doc" Paul.

Earlier this season the Thunder, in conjuction with the National Foundation for Transplants, held a fundraiser for Doc helping him raise money for a double lung transplant. The event raised over $20,000 for the cause. Doc was in St. Louis awaiting a transplant when he passed away earlier today.

"In all of my 17 years in Wichita I never met a friendlier person that Doc Paul", said Thunder general manager Joel T. Lomurno. "He was a great friend and a great asset to our organization who will be dearly missed."

Doc Paul, who was a realtor at Crown III Realty, worked nearly every home game in the history of the Thunder, as well as every home game for the Wichita Wind of the old Central Hockey League from 1980-83. A memorial service for Doc will be held next week.
