Invesco Field to Host MLL All-Star Game

July 1, 2009 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Denver Outlaws

DENVER - INVESCO Field at Mile High and The Denver Outlaws are pleased to announce the 2009 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game Festivities that are to be held between July 15th -16th. Events include a meet and greet event at Denver's Skyline Park, Long Drive Competition benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club, Media Party at Hard Rock Cafe Denver, All-Star Fan Fair Day at INVESCO Field at Mile High, a Tree Planting with The Park People and the All-Star Game.

Denver attackman Brendan Mundorf (UMBC), who currently leads the League in scoring, along with midfielder Brian Langtry (Hofstra), attackman Matt Brown (University of Denver) and defenseman Lee Zink (Maryland) will represent the Outlaws on the "Old School" team, while attackman Drew Westervelt (UMBC), rookie midfielder Max Seibald (Cornell), defenseman Matt Bocklett (Johns Hopkins), and two-time Defensive Player of the Week, goalie Jesse Schwartzman (Johns Hopkins) will suit up for the "Young Guns". Denver Head Coach Brian Reese and his assistant coaches Trevor Tierney and Bill Edell will coach the "Old School" team.

While the League has implemented an "East" vs. "West" format for the past two seasons, this year's game will return to the popular "Old School" vs. "Young Guns" format which was featured in the 2005 All-Star Game, which also took place in Denver. The "Young Guns" squad is comprised of players from the 2007-2009 classes, while the "Old School" squad will be made up by those players from the classes prior to and including 2006.

In addition to the game, there are several interactive events planned in and around the Denver area leading up to the Game. On Wednesday July 15th, MLL players, coaches, and staff will be at Skyline Park along the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. MT to teach fans about the game of lacrosse, sign autographs, shoot on a professional goalie, win tickets to the All-Star Game, and receive free samples of Monster Energy Drink.

From 2 to 4pm, join MLL All-Stars Paul Rabil (Boston), Anthony Kelly (Chicago), Kevin Leveille (Chicago), Matt Bocklet (Denver), and Ray Megill (Boston) as they take on fans in a Long Drive Competition at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. Each contestant will receive the chance to win prizes from The Denver Outlaws, Major League Lacrosse, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club, VIP sideline tickets, pre-game field passes, and more. Profits will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. Fans can pre-register by contacting Colin Keys 720-258-3608 or Colin.Keys@DenverOutlaws.com or register the day of the long drive at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.
